My long awaited first supply of Humira has arrived today. I'm so excited, i can't wait to start it and get my life back (Hopefully). Only problem is that i have to wait for the nurse to contact me now to arrange to come round and show me how to use it!! Anyone know how long it normally takes for the nurse to make contact? Love Shirley x

If she's from Healthcare at Home as mine was then she actually arrived on the same day as the Humira! I don't think it will be very long! Good Luck! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hello
Thanks everyone for the replies, as usual you were spot on! The nurse phoned on Sunday and came round on Monday to supervise me giving myself the humira injection. She was a bit surprised that i'm allowed it while i'm having the chemo cream for the skin cancer on my nose as at the moment it is an open wound and she said it was very prone to an infection getting in the wound. Also i have a heart monitor on for a week which i had just got monday morning and she found it amusing i was in such a 'state' as she put it! She had a good sense of humour and we had a giggle about my misfortunes. You have to laugh or else i would cry.
My Dad had an op for bowel cancer Monday of last week and all went well after 6 hours of surgery and he was allowed home on the Thursday which i found ridiculous. Well on friday my brother phoned to say that Dad had a heart attack and was back in hospital. I wanted to visit him but was advised against it because of picking up an infection so i feel really bad about that. Also Mum is very poorly too and relies on Dad doing stuff for her. Although my brother is around helping them it doesn't help the guilt. He may not be around much longer as he is at court next week.
Rose i hope you get on well with the enbrel.
Thanks for reading this and sorry i've gone on a bit.
Love Shirley x

Hello Shirley
Glad the inject now done - but sorry about all the other problems this of course does not help your RA.
Just to let you know I am thinking about you

Oh Shirley - what a lot you are having to deal with. Really hope the new drugs work quickly and you are making good progress with the skin cancer treatment.
I know what it is like to have both parents poorly. I hope your Dad recovers well and you can arrange some care for them that allows you to stay as well as possible too. It must be a very worrying time for you all. Just wanted to say thinking of you and keep posting xx Ailsa

Hi Shirley, what a stressful time for you. I know how worrying it is having an ill parent. Where my mother lived the gp surgery and hospital could arrange for up to 6 weeks emergency care for her so do ask if that is available in your area. Best of luck with everything.

I don't know if i'm just having a rare good day or the humira has started to work already but i feel really good today. I have just been in to town by myself to get a few bits of shopping and that's the first time i have done that in ages. i feel like a different person.
Rose, how kind to say you are thinking of me. I am thinking of you too and also Ailsa. Have you both started the enbrel yet? I hope it works for you both.
Dad has an infection from the operation so he will probably be in hospital for a while longer.
Thanks Sally, i will ask about the emergency care.
Love Shirley x
